About the Medical Administrative Assistant Position
We’re seeking a motivated and responsible worker to join our team as a Medical Administrative Assistant. In this role, you’ll provide administrative support to other healthcare staff by scheduling appointments, recording insurance information, and helping patients fill out paperwork.

Medical Administrative Assistant Responsibilities
- Greet patients as they arrive and check them in for appointments
- Collect all relevant paperwork and insurance information prior to appointments
- Maintain all patient records in an organized manner
- Answer phone calls, taking messages for medical staff as needed
- Schedule appointments, including confirming, canceling, or rescheduling appointments
- Serve as the point of contact with insurance companies, helping patients understand what their insurance will and will not cover
- Process insurance claims and take payments
- Work with medical staff to assist with examinations if needed
- Stay up-to-date on changes to medical and insurance legislation
- Maintain an organized workspace that is welcoming to patients
Medical Administrative Assistant Requirements
- [2+] years experience in an administrative role, medical environment experience preferred
- High school diploma or GED
- Medical billing and coding certification a plus
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong customer service skills with an ability to remain discreet regarding private information
- Superb organizational skills with strong attention to detail
