About the Debt Collector position

We’re seeking a responsible and tactful individual to join our team as a Debt Collector. As a Debt Collector, you’ll be responsible for contacting those who have defaulted on their debts to go over options and work out repayment plans.

To succeed as a Debt Collector, you’ll need excellent communication and negotiation skills. It’s important that you’re able to remain calm and confident in high-stress conversations, building trust with those you’re contacting. 

Debt Collector Responsibilities

• Keep track of assigned accounts and their debts
• Create a plan to get repayment as soon as possible
• Locate and contact defaulters 
• Work to build trust with debtors
• Negotiate and set up repayment plans with defaulters, making note of the terms of the plan in tracking software
• Monitor accounts to ensure debtors adhere to repayment plans
• Keep in-depth records of all communications and repayments or lack thereof 
• Note any discrepancies or customer complaints, escalating if needed
• Comply with requirements to start legal action if necessary

Debt Collector Requirements

• [2+] years experience as a Debt Collector
• High school diploma preferred
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and various accounting programs
• Excellent communication skills, particularly over the telephone
• Superb negotiation and persuasion skills
• The ability to multitask while keeping an eye out for detail
• Working knowledge of debt-related legal regulations
