About the Pastry Chef Position
We’re seeking a creative and talented Pastry Chef to join our team! As a Pastry Chef, you’ll be responsible for baking beautiful and delicious desserts and confections.
In addition to baking, you’ll also be responsible for creating seasonal menus, developing new recipes, and sharing your knowledge with other team members.
Pastry Chef Responsibilities
- Plan and manage daily operations of the kitchen’s pastry section
- Create menus, suggesting new items as needed
- Prepare pastries, desserts, confections, and more on a daily basis
- Decorate pastries using a variety of toppings and tools to apply them
- Communicate with clients to get an understanding of what they want and make recommendations
- Meet with clients to discuss custom orders, such as birthday cakes and wedding cakes
- Monitor the stock of all necessary ingredients
- Train and lead assistant pastry chefs
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines
- Stay up-to-date on food trends and dietary restriction needs, such as gluten-free options
Pastry Chef Requirements
- High school diploma
- [2+] years experience as a Pastry Chef
- Certificate in culinary arts preferred but not required
- Working knowledge of baking techniques
- Great attention to detail and creativity skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Superb organizational skills when working in a fast-paced environment
