About the Accounting Clerk Position

In the Accounting Clerk role, you’ll work with clients, vendors, and internal departments to issue invoices, update records, make payments, and more. Through record keeping and updating databases, the Accounting Clerk will make sure that the office’s finances are running smoothly.
Accounting Clerk Responsibilities
- Create and process invoices
- Prepare checks and deposits
- Maintain reports and files, ensuring that all records are accurate and complete
- Keep record of all monetary transactions, updating and reconciling accounts daily
- Identify problems or discrepancies and find a resolution to prevent further issues
- Prepare summary reports on a [weekly/monthly/quarterly] basis and present to upper management
- Respond to customer questions and complaints, resolving billing discrepancies
- Assist in tax preparation
- Perform basic office tasks, such as answering phones, processing mail, entering data, etc.
- Support senior accounting staff as needed
- Ensure that all company accounting policies meet regulations and adhere to best guidelines
Accounting Clerk Requirements
- [2+] years experience as an Accounting Clerk or in a similar role with strong knowledge of accounting procedures and principles
- High school diploma or GED required, BA/BS in accounting, business, or similar field preferred
- Computer literacy skills required, including but not limited to proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software, including QuickBooks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an eye for detail
- Superb analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Must be able to remain professional when dealing with sensitive financial information
